Polar Express Day!

We had so much fun for Polar Express Day before Winter Break!  Check out the video to see all of the fun we had...

Christmas BINGO!

We had a lot of fun playing Christmas BINGO today! We even got to eat the M&M's when we were finished playing! That was the BEST part!!

Elf Adventures -- Day 13!

Elfie decided he needed to be our "Line Leader" today!  What a silly elf!

He also brought treats for the kids reminding them to be "beary" good!

We will be sad to see Elfie go. We'll definitely enjoy our last day with him tomorrow!  We are excited to have Polar Express Day with our very special friend, Elfie!

Elf Adventures -- Day 12!

Today I thought Elfie did a pretty good job of being discrete and sneaky... hiding himself in the middle of our tree.... 

BUT... the kids still spotted him within seconds of entering the room!  There is no fooling these kids! They find him RIGHT AWAY every single day!

How to Catch a Gingerbread Man...

Yesterday, we read The Gingerbread Man. We have read this before but wanted to read it once again. After reading, the kids were able to come up with their own plan to successfully catch one.  Here are just a few of them.  Enjoy!!!

CHASE: 

First, I would not bake it. Just eat it. 

Next, I would trap another one in a cage.

Last, I would sit on it!

JETER:

First, I would run run as fast as I can.

Next, I'd throw a pickle at him.

Last, I'd eat him!

JACK:

First, I'd go try to catch him if I couldn't

Next, I would go through the grass.

Last, I would eat him!

ZOE:

First, I would jump off the tree and stop him.

Next, I would get a trampoline and jump on him.

Last, I would eat him!

PERI: 

First, I need a butterfly net.

Next, I would be behind a tree.

Last, I would sneak up on it!

MILEY:

First, I would jump.

Next, I would scream.

Last, I would eat it!

SIDNEY:

First, I would stay like the fox and sleep.

Next, I would freeze it and then let the sun heat it up and I will eat it.

Last, I will be his friend and eat it up!

KARMA:

First, I would run run run run run run.

Next, I would jump jump until I hear him.

Last, I would spy on him and hide everywhere!

SLAYDEN:

First, I would make a gingerbread man.

Next, I would catch it and I would say, "Do you want a buddy?"

Last, when he comes I will eat him up!

ALEJANDRO:

First, I would catch it with a net, but that would not work.

Next, I would trick him but that would not work.

Last, I would try to catch him with my hands and that would work!

I absolutely love the imagination of a 1st grader! These are awesome!

Class News!

We are having so much fun this week!  We can't wait until our Polar Express Day on Friday! Please read below for some important information!

You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!

Today we had all sorts of "grinchy" fun!  We listened to the book, described the Grinch using adjectives, watched the movie, made a cute craft explaining how we would make the Grinch grin, and did a Grinch word search!  We had so much fun!

Elf Adventures --- Day 10!

Elfie left a little message for us this morning, reminding us that he watching us really closely!

He also left us a treat reminding us to be on our best behavior!

Miss Lorenz & Miss Olson

This semester, we were fortunate enough to have two UNL practicum students in our classroom. Miss Lorenz and Miss Olson fit in to our classroom nicely and were great assets to Room 112. We are sad to see them go and wish them well!
