On to 2nd Grade!

What an incredible year we have had in 1st grade! It has been such a joy watching these kids grow and learn. I am confident that they will be rockstar 2nd graders when they return in the fall!

This year has ended with a lot of emotions for me. I have loved my time at Meadow Lane and have truly learned a lot from my students, families, and my colleagues. It is on a day like today, as I'm finishing up the year and packing up my things, that I realize how truly blessed I am. Being a teacher is such a rewarding job and I wouldn't trade my career for anything! I have come to love each one of my students and am so proud of each and every one of them for all of the amazing things that they have accomplished. I hope that they all know how much I care for them and how much I will truly miss them!

I am excited to start a new chapter in my life teaching Kindergarten at Adams Elementary. This is going to be a great learning opportunity and a chance to step out of my comfortable "1st Grade box." I know that my time and experiences at Meadow Lane will go with me on my next adventure, as my time here is part of who I am and what I love.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this year, supporting Room 112 every single day!

Habitats/Non-fiction

We had so much fun learning about habitats this quarter. Each student researched an animal, wrote a research report on it, and then created their very own habitat. It was so fun to see these animals come to life in our classroom. I have some creative, animal-loving, 1st graders! After all of our habitats were complete, we were able to go through all of the 1st grade rooms to see the other kids' habitats too. We saw a lot of different animals and everyone did such a great job on their habitat creations!

Zoo & Park Field Trip

On Friday, we went to the Lincoln Children's Zoo and Antelope Park. We had so much fun going through the zoo looking for mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and birds. It was perfect weather and we had some awesome volunteers who helped make it possible! After the zoo, we walked over to Antelope Park for lunch. We enjoyed a nice outdoor lunch at the picnic tables, and then we were off to play for about an hour. An hour was the perfect amount of time because after that... it started raining! We got on the bus just in time! :) We headed back to school, watched a short video about zoo animals, and then went to finish our day at P.E. It was a great day of making memories and applying all of our animal and habitat knowledge that we gained in 4th quarter!
